Our apprenticeship scheme introduces and develops the next generation of talent within our industry. We run schemes both in the workshop and in the office which delivers both a practical and theoretical all round education.
We believe apprenticeships provide hands-on training and practical experience, allowing individuals to acquire specific job-related skills.
We offer a structured learning environment where apprentices can learn from experienced professionals & gain valuable knowledge that may not be easily attainable through traditional education.
Our apprenticeships promote social mobility by providing opportunities for individuals to enter the workforce and gain valuable skills, irrespective of their educational background. They offer a pathway to employment and career advancement for people who may not have pursued traditional academic routes, contributing to a more inclusive society.
Only 17% of ex-offenders find a job within twelve months of their release. This is harmful to both the individual and the community where they live because it increases the chance of reoffending.
We have been authorised by HM Prison service to hire offenders who are nearing the end of their sentence. Candidates will be released or those on a temporary licence so they can work with us at our Bedford site.
This initiative helps ex-offenders rebuild their lives whilst reducing their chance of reoffending which prevents future victims of crime.
We intend to give someone a second chance to help them become a fully contributing member of society, which will also benefit the community where they live.
We strongly believe that helping out our local Foodbank is a wonderful way of giving back to the community and support those in need. Food banks play a crucial role in providing food assistance to individuals and families facing food insecurity.
As well as donating food as and when we can, we regularly volunteer our time & resources by lending the local Foodbank with vehicles and drivers to help out with deliveries, and we recently helped them move new fridges into their warehouse.
We want to give back and help our local community. Working with the charitable Blues Foundation, we have donated and provided mentoring sessions since October 2022 to promote positive and informed lifestyle choices to those that need it.
Blues Foundation is the charitable arm of Bedford Blues Rugby Club. Working across Bedfordshire and neighbouring areas, their mission is to inspire our community through the values of rugby to promote the positive and informed lifestyle choices.
We’ve taken part in their Tackle Life programme by providing mentoring sessions for young adults who need additional support focusing on mental wellbeing, leadership, employability and confidence. These were very successful and enjoyed by us and the young people, we look forward to attending more and inviting them down to us in the future for some ‘how to’ workshops on maintaining a vehicle.
In March 2023, some of the UKT&P Team participated in a Sleep Out to Help Out Challenge to raise money for Help for Heroes, raising £1,245.00, as well as raising awareness for veterans that find themselves homeless.
The UKT&P team slept out in the Bedfordshire countryside in their DIY shelters and surviving off £1.70 each for food.
